On behalf of the EAO Board, I'd like to inform you that we received the unfortunate news from Dr. Paul Stone that for personal reasons he needed to resign as President of the EAO.
We deeply regret this announcement as we know Dr. Stone was incredibly dedicated to the success of the EAO and was hugely enthusiastic about his term as President.
At the Board meeting at the end of June, we discussed the necessary action needed to address this unforeseen situation. The Board agreed on the following course of action, which is outlined by the EAO constitution:
Prof. Søren Schou, current President Elect, will immediately take on the role of interim President until the General Assembly in Athens in October 2011.
We would like to thank Dr. Stone for all his hard work as a Board member, Secretary General and President over the past 6 years, and we wish him all the very best in the future.
We also wish to thank Prof. Schou for his willingness to step into the challenge of taking over the Presidency on such short notice. Prof. Schou has the full support of the Board to continue the successful development of the EAO.
