The EAO held its 3rd Consensus Conference in Pfäffikon SZ, Switzerland at the Seedman Plaza.

The 59 delegates from 17 countries are working on the following topics: 1) Implant survival and complications; 2) Peri-implant tissue destruction; 3) Computer aided implant therapy and soft and hard tissue aspects Reconstructions on implants; 4) Reconstructions on implants

 The 3rd EAO Consensus Conference ran from the 15th-18th of February.

A full participants list and more information about the outcomes, supplement publication in the COIR and the lecture dedicated to the outcomes during the Copenhagen EAO Congress will be available shortly.
 

ATHENS, Greece: This year’s annual congress of the European Association for Osseointegration (EAO) was officially opened with a Ceremony that took place this Friday morning in the C. Lambrakis Hall in the Megaron Congress Centre in Athens. Delegates were welcomed with words of Scientific Committee Chairmen Prof. Friedrich W. Neukam from Germany and Professor Asterios Doukoudakis from the University of Athens.

The Junior Committee received 15 applications from nine countries. Over the summer the Junior Committee will select six candidates to interview during the EAO Annual Meeting in Athens where two candidates will be selected to join the Junior Committee.

On behalf of the EAO Board, I'd like to inform you Dr. Paul Stone had for personal reasons to resign as President of the EAO. Prof. Søren Schou, current President Elect, will immediately take on the role of interim President until the General Assembly in Athens in October 2011.

The EAO Junior Committee, which consists of 8 young scientists/clinicians who support the EAO Board in achieving their mission, has just opened the application process for two new members. The deadline for applicants is July 10 2011. Click here to download the application process.

On 6th and 7th May 2011, the EAO held a consensus workshop on radiological guidelines at the Medical University of Warsaw, Poland, with 14 radiologists and clinicians attending from all over Europe.

The EAO Junior Committee gathered together in the summer of 2010 to share insights and ideas about the evolution of implant dentistry in 2030.

The 20th Annual Scientific Congress of the EAO will take place in Athens, Greece from 12th to 15th October, 2011. The theme is “Treatment Planning in Implant Dentistry”. More than 3,000 delegates are expected to participate.

Fast disappearing are the days when dentists used to take impressions of teeth, implants and jaws in order to be able to treat their patients. Dentistry has moved progressively into the digital era.

Dentists who love their gadgets will find plenty to see and play with at the EAO Congress in Glasgow this year. One of Europe’s biggest implant dentistry trade exhibitions is being held alongside the main conference and all major trade suppliers will be represented.
