Christoph Hämmerle
Past President
Christoph Hämmerle is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics and Dental Material Science and the Vice-Dean of the Medical Faculty for the Center of Dental Medicine, University of Zurich, Switzerland.
He is certified in prosthodontics as well as in periodontics.
His clinical focus is on the comprehensive treatment of complex, partially edentulous patients applying all available options of restorative dentistry.
Professor Hämmerle’s main scientific interest encompasses biological and prosthetic aspects of the treatment with dental implants as part of the overall restorative treatment concept. His evaluation of the long-term outcome of different therapeutic approaches for fixed reconstructions aims to further improve treatment success.
Prof. Hämmerle is a member of various scientific organizations. Presently, he is a Board Member of the Swiss Society of Implantology, President of the Osteology Foundation, and Chairman of the ITI Section in Switzerland.
He has served on the organizing committees of several national and international conferences including: Swiss Society of Periodontology, European Association for Osseointegration (including chairmanship of the 15th Annual Congress of the EAO 2006 in Zurich, co-chairmanship of the 1st and 2nd Consensus Conferences of the EAO in 2006 and 2009), Implantologie Aktuell, ITI World Symposium.
He has published numerous scientific and clinical articles and served on the review boards of several scientific journals in the field.
